The Keap1-Nrf2: Mechanisms of activation and dysregulation in cancer


The Keap1-Nrf2 pathway is the significant regulator of cytoprotective responses to oxidative and electrophilic anxiety. Although mobile signaling pathways triggered by the transcription factor Nrf2 stop cancer initiation and development in normal and premalignant cells, in completely cancerous cells Nrf2 activity offers growth advantage by boosting cancer chemoresistance and improving tumor cell development. Within this article, we offer a synopsis of the Keap1-Nrf2 pathway and its dysregulation in cancer cells. We also briefly summarize the outcome of constitutive Nrf2 activation in cancer cells and how this may be exploited in cancer gene therapy.
